Course Analysis

Reflecting on this course I have learned a lot and will continue to use the skills I have learned. For me the hardest pieces were the analysis of the art on my final website. This was my most challenging piece because I had to analyze the art without fully repeating myself though my weekly updates. I think that I was able to find  a good balance of incorporating and connecting my weekly updates to my art analysis without overdoing it and just resaying the same thing over and over again. To answer the question, “What is art?”, I would say that it is a form of media that portrays a story that can be interpreted and a story behind the making of it. I believe that everything can be interpreted as art in some aspects, some more than others. I think that the reason why art is so widely liked is because of its versatility. Art can be many different things in many different shapes and forms. I thought the course topic of analyzing art was very interesting to me. I loved looking at peoples art analysis every week and I would take the time to analyze the art before I read their analysis. Then I would compare my thoughts to the author of the blog I am reading and I would see some similarities, but I would also find some differences that I found very intriguing. This helped me go into more depth for my analysis in the future and I believe made the quality of my analysis higher. Going into my strategy every week, I looked to inform myself of the topic first for my critical analysis. I made sure to do extensive research into the topic we had so that I could make a good visual piece about our topic. The visual art that we had to create definitely helped me a lot with my understanding of our four main topics. This helped me understand the era we were studying and then pick a good piece of art to analyze. I would then use the knowledge I learned from my research and make sure to incorporate the key parts of the movements into my art analysis. Each work of art focused on something different so I had to have a different approach as far as the content went each week. When I was writing my blog I always looked back to reflect on my approach that week and see how effective my approach was. To continue to support my own learning I have learned to take time to reflect and analyze my work. I think it is important to take some time after you have been working on something and reread it to make sure that it makes sense and that I am being effective with my words. This is also a good life lesson to take time and evaluate the situation that you are in. I think it is important to know that when times get tough, you should take a step back, evaluate the situation, and go in head first with your best plan.

  1. Hey Sam,
the first thing i noticed about your site is its almost identical to mine, as in the layout. This makes it very easy for viewers to navigate through and allows them to get to the certain topics they want to read. As a big basketball fan i liked how you incorporated the BLM movement with the bubble and the Jacob Blake shooting. On my site I covered racial injustice, poverty, and police brutality so i also believe strongly in these ideas. Great job
