Course Analysis

Image
Reflecting on this course I have learned a lot and will continue to use the skills I have learned. For me the hardest pieces were the analysis of the art on my final website. This was my most challenging piece because I had to analyze the art without fully repeating myself though my weekly updates. I think that I was able to find  a good balance of incorporating and connecting my weekly updates to my art analysis without overdoing it and just resaying the same thing over and over again. To answer the question, “What is art?”, I would say that it is a form of media that portrays a story that can be interpreted and a story behind the making of it. I believe that everything can be interpreted as art in some aspects, some more than others. I think that the reason why art is so widely liked is because of its versatility. Art can be many different things in many different shapes and forms. I thought the course topic of analyzing art was very interesting to me. I loved looking at peoples ...

Cite This picture is from the first game where the players wore shirts and kneeled to show their support for the BLM movement Analysis: In this first work of art is where the origin for my website idea started. Due to the corona virus, the National Basketball Association had to restart the NBA season in Orlando, Florida at Disney world and created the NBA bubble where no one could go in or out to make the environment as safe as possible. Before the start of the NBA restart, the black lives matter movement had come to the forefront due to multiple events of police brutality, but mostly due to the George Floyd situation. The players then came together to help spread a message of what they thought would help make a difference. With everyone still inside or quarantined for the most part, the players knew that there would be a lot of eyes on them and this would be a good time to spread an effective message. The players were then also choose the option to kneel or not kneel during the ...

6th week of AtAP

Image
This week I am just looking to add as much content as possible to create a good final product for my website. Right now I am a little behind on where I would like to be with my word count but it is definitely manageable over the next week. Since I only have tests left now, I will have more time to work on my english project and website to be able to add all of the content I need to get to the word range. The one thing that might be hard is to find a bunch of different current events to write a long paragraph about but once I find my handful of events I do not see a lot of trouble after that. I am a lot more happy that I have a lot more time to work on my project now because before I was always having trouble finding time around my other classes and basketball to write but now since everything has slowed down a little i think this is manageable. I am looking to find 4 different events and write about five hundred words on each one. I can also elaborate on my other posts if needed. Cite:...

5th Week of AtAP

This week I did another update on the BLM movement in sports and specifically in the NBA bubble. Over quarantine, I watched a lot of “A day of the life in the NBA bubble” vlogs by Matisse Thybulle. It was cool to see the perspective of the players in the NBA bubble because everything seemed so secretive. In one specific vlog, he captures a team meeting about his team talking about the BLM movement and had an open discussion with whoever wanted to say what was on their mind. I thought this was a cool topic and I even put the video on my website too. So far, I think I am on a good track for the project. We are all becoming a little more stressed and want to make sure that we are putting ourselves in a good position to make sure that we are not cramming at the start of December. I think this week of thanksgiving is a good time to take a step back, reevaluate, and figure out what needs to be done and how it can be evenly spread out. Overall I am confident that the project will get done to ...

4th Week of AtAP

This week I did my weekly update to help me get to my 6,000 word goal. As I looked for current events regarding the BLM movement and sports, I could not find anything super significant. So, I decided to reflect on the Colin Kaepernick situation and how times have changed from then to today. I then went into describing his situation and talked about how he was “before his time” as far as using his platform to silently protest against police brutality. I talked about how this affected his career and how maybe he would have had a different future if he had done the same thing in 2020. I know that kneeling is a very sensitive subject and I wanted to touch briefly on how it is important to do your research and make your own opinion. Overall I thought this would be a cool spin on my website because now when there is not a big new current event story, I can go back and reflect on situations like the one with Colin Kaepernick and how maybe things would have turned differently if this took plac...

Third Week of AtAP

Image
For my website content this week I focused on the election and the connection between the Black Lives Matter movement and Athletes and how that could have affected the election. I am typically someone who steers away from politics because I do not like dealing with drama. I think that people become stubborn about their view and think that people who do not agree with them are evil and I do not want to deal with that kind of drama. Otherwise, I think my website is going along pretty well. I think that my plan to do weekly write ups has helped me manage my work a lot and made it much easier to break up the 6000 word requirement week by week and make it less stressful and more fun. I plan to keep this going and I will take some time over the week of thanksgiving to evaluate and see if I am on track or if I need to do some catching up. Overall I think I am in a good position and there are plenty of current events that relate to my topic that I can research and talk about. I am happy with m...

Second Week of AtAP

Image
I think that my website progress went really well this week. Since we do not have a specific thing to add to the website every week I have decided to do weekly “updates” or blurbs about current events involving the Black Lives Matter movement in sports and what decisions are being made. This week I did my blurb about how the NBA has  recently decided to take the words “Black Lives Matter” off the court for next season. For situations at as big of a scale as this, everyone has different opinions and not everyone agrees with each other. I made sure to do my research and look at both sides of the situation before deciding my opinion on the situation. I think that doing a weekly blurb will help my project come together nicely and make each week be focused and not be coming up with random stuff to add each week. I think that this is a tremendous step for me in my organization of my final project website and will help alleviate the stress of figuring out what to add each week. I also am ...
