4th Week of AtAP

This week I did my weekly update to help me get to my 6,000 word goal. As I looked for current events regarding the BLM movement and sports, I could not find anything super significant. So, I decided to reflect on the Colin Kaepernick situation and how times have changed from then to today. I then went into describing his situation and talked about how he was “before his time” as far as using his platform to silently protest against police brutality. I talked about how this affected his career and how maybe he would have had a different future if he had done the same thing in 2020. I know that kneeling is a very sensitive subject and I wanted to touch briefly on how it is important to do your research and make your own opinion. Overall I thought this would be a cool spin on my website because now when there is not a big new current event story, I can go back and reflect on situations like the one with Colin Kaepernick and how maybe things would have turned differently if this took place in 2020. Overall I am happy with the progress on my website so far.

    Hey Sam, sound like a great place to start! I also have the same goal to achieve 6,000 words for the final project. I agree that kneeling during the national anthem is definitely a controversial topic and that Kaepernick's career would be different if he kneeled during 2020. You chose a great topic to research about and it sounds like you are at a great spot for the website.

Week 4 AtAP Update

I think that I am at a good starting stage for my project so far. After reading the description for this week's check in, I would like to do the project individually. I think this will be easier for me because of how the class is online rather than in person. I am interested to see the template you will post next week as far as planning out how to space out the project evenly, but I think that will come over time. I am also not too worried about how I am going to present my project yet because I think it is a little too early to decide that right now.
